Melbourne was a delicious getaway. Though the emtoive climate at the time wasn’t complimentry to a enjoyable journey, i made the most of what I could. The quarrel with her in the hours before my depature and her remaining here to stew took the wind out of my sails. The first 2 days were spent mooching through the boutiques, emporiums and chain stores of the CBD, Chapel st and Queen Victoria Markets. The others ventured into the night, so alot of their daytime movements were hindered by fatigue, but still they too enjoyed what this beautiful city had to offer. I revelled in the limitless supply of chic and vouge outlets.

Originally it was more the nightlife of Melboure that had attracted me, but my partiality for such environments has dwindled over the last few months. The thereafter is a chore, and nothing new presents itself anymore. Dispite this, I ventured out on the Saturday night and induldged significantly. The night drew on and on, well into Sunday, of which I have little recolection. I know it was primarily made up of sleep.

The Monday was another venture to another strip lined with inviting shops in Richmond, but most of the outlets were not yet open. I had arrived too early. The hours before our return flight were spent marauding accross the CBD. One of my fellow travellers enjoyed a post lunch date shag in the bathroom of the office of a secretary he met on the saturday night out, superb.

Such a brief summary of what was a fairly intense and busy trip. Good times and good chums. Many little stories such as the ones above, but they are better kept as a memory for another day than explination at this time. Even slip made it down from Sydney, which was a delight.

I make no excuses for the heavy heart which I brought with me over the weekend, but it did place an interesting emotional medium to work through. I had a pleasing trip, and discovered (along with the many that have travelled to Melbourne) that it is a lovely and enigmatic destination that i will endevour to revisit soon. The food, fashion and ambience really struck a chord with me.

In the mid afternoon I am off to Bangkok, followed by the island of Phuket for a week of educational leave. It looks to be another busy trip with an endless number of hotel inspections and tours to take in and report back on. As my first real intake of Asia (apart from Hong Kong ‘92), I am looking to incite an ongoing desire to explore more of Asia.

Otherwise my time has been spent enjoying her tender company and enjoying a new wonderful relationship. It has grown quickly and it is maturing into something special. Very special. We are both taking it day by day, dealing with what tomorrow offers us tomorrow. It does seem though that our focuses are moving further ahead to see how far we can nurture this special bond. It is a beautiful time in my life.
