I didn’t listen to the hottest 100. I’m looking over the list now and I have to admit I’m disappointed with the narrow range in music choice JJJ seems to prioritise. I’m steadily losing respect for JJJ, which is sad, as it’s the sound I’ve grown up with.
I guess my own personal analysis of this ’scene’ ends up something like this. It’s as if there is a reaction by the JJJ audience and JJJ itself to it’s ‘alternative’ philosophy becoming mainstream and popular, which makes it supposedly hypocritical. ‘Crap’ music (musically) that apparently is far more relative to current day culture or alternative to it is more important that good music which the people can enjoy. It’s this whole ‘to be alternative’ mentality seems to be ruining ‘a good thing’, in JJJ. I admit that a lot of the music played on the Js during 2003 wasn’t exactly to my taste, but the vast majority of the tracks seem to be from only facet of the alternative genre. I can only contrast it with if the countdown was primarily comprised to RnB tracks. Maybe I’m out of touch, but it disheartens me when I see something culturally integral in my life becoming something narrow and continually disappointing.
And by the way, I do like Dave Grohl props to him and his h100 successes. The Vines and MGF were the two most overrated groups of 2003, if not ever. Grinspoon have had their time, let it go. And come on Nirvana, who do you think you are? 2PAC?

Through the legitimate trade of xmas gift vouchers, I headed off to and purchased some heavily reduced 6″ speakers. Clicky!
Took a bit of mucking around due to the factory speakers being 6.5″, but meh, they’re in and sound great. Better range and thus pumps harder.

Element Name: WOMANIUM
Symbol: WO
Atomic Weight: Don’t even go there
Physical Properties: Generally soft and round in form. Boils at nothing and may freeze any time. Melts when treated properly. Very bitter if not used well.
Chemical Properties: Very active. Highly unstable. Possesses strong affinity with gold, silver, platinum and precious stones. Violent when left alone. Able to absorb great amounts of exotic food. Turns slightly green when placed next to a better specimen.
Usage: Highly ornamental. An extremely good catalyst for dispersion of wealth. Probably the most powerful income-reducing agent known.
Caution: Highly explosive in inexperienced hands.

Symbol: XY
Atomic Weight: (180 +/- 50)
Physical Properties: Solid at room temperature, but gets bent out of shape easily. Fairly dense and sometimes flaky. Difficult to find a pure sample. Due to rust, aging samples are unable to conduct electricity as easily as young samples.
Chemical Properties: Attempts to bond with WO any chance it can get. Also tends to form strong bonds with itself. Becomes explosive when mixed with KD (Element: CHILDIUM) for prolonged period of time. Neutralise by saturating with alcohol.
Usage: None known. Possible good methane source. Good samples are able to produce large quantities on command.
Caution: In the absence of WO, this element rapidly decomposes and begins to smell

I’ve returned home briefly from byron as I have work tomorrow. I have been given a casual position at amex travel at the hyperdome. I applied to a senior position (which I had no real chance of aquiring) but, the managers were so impressed by my CV and demeanor they want to get me in and get some experience with the chance of getting a perminent position. A big step for me, as Ive been looking for something, anything infact, for the past 12 months, but there are alot of people looking for travel jobs. And lot of them have more experience than me. I’m very grateful and excited about this new position.
My stay in byron has been very nice, although we’re not staying very close to the beach or the center of byron bay, it’s all we need. A big mix of people in byron, yuppies, old people, kids, teenagers, surfies, hippies, backpackers, random hot chix, families, nubes, oldbeans and me. It’s pretty cruisy, and the weather has been grande. I’m a bit short on the green at the moment, so I cant go shopping down there.
